Salmon Reports and River flows

The Smith River flow is 3,420 cfs and its height is 8.73 and is getting clear.

The Chetco River flow is 2,590 cfs and its height is 4.76 with some color.

The Elk River is 4.1 ft with a murky green color.

The weather is changing to rain the next couple of days for the people that booked me for after Christmas this will be good the rain is needed again.

After last weeks big rain I was out 4 days we hooked 12 Steelhead on the Smith landed 7 fish.

We lost a very big fish it fought like a steelhead but we never saw it, the fish found a big rock and hid behind it and was able to throw the hook.

We had some of are best hook ups with yarn and float balls, when we used bait the smolts {young steelhead} would eat it.

The float balls are from {Sparr none} out of Fair Oaks Ca. 1 916-863-5866 brand name Thunder Balls they are the best that I have used thanks Bob.

I want to say "THANK YOU "to every one of you that fished with us it was a very good year.

Merry Christmas to all and may this next year be silver bright like the fish we fight. I am getting bookings for the spring run of salmon it is never too early to book a trip.

So remember to book early for the dates you want or settle for what I have left open.

Salmon Reports and River Flows The Rogue River is fishing good with some very large Chinook salmon bright rite from the ocean with a lot of fight.

We hooked three yesterday lost one released one Silver and landed one Chinook about 18 pounds. We had several striped baits with a pull down.

The Silver fishery will start Sept. first for hatchery Silvers.

The hatchery Silvers limit is 2 a day with all Wild Silvers to be released unharmed. You should avoid netting the Wild Silvers and never remove them from the water. The hatchery clips the back fin on their fish Silvers and Chinook the fin is called the adipose it is between the dorsal fin and the tail. The Silvers are smaller but fight like Steelhead with fast runs and jumps with the intent to throw the hook.

The Rogue River flows are 2,210 CFS and the height is 3 feet and warm this makes the fish stay in the Bay of the Rogue River traveling in and out to the ocean at the change of the tides.

The salmon will commit to go up river to spawn as the internal clock is ticking this is the unique drive that is with in them always pushing forward. Call (541) 698-7029 or Drift Boat Dave @ Hot Mail.Com. Looking for a driftboat give me a call.

Rogue & Klamath Reports and River Flows

The Rogue River fall Salmon is starting to pick up trolling the estuary the biggest salmon that I heard of was 45 lbs. There is a big problem in the river in the form of a lager sea lion that wants your salmon as much as you do.

The Klamath has dropped and cleared the trinity lake has cut back on the amount of water released to its summer time rates as of July 9th.

This fall I will be offering the chose of fishing the Klamath from the jet boat or my drift boat the trip with the driftboat is about 9 miles stopping at Klamath glen fishing for Steelhead or the fall salmon or both by request.

The Rogue River Level is 2.92 and the flow is 2,110 cfs.

The Klamath River level is 5.90 and the flow is 5,610 cfs.

Spring Salmon Reports and River Flows The Rogue River for spring salmon last week was a little slow there was a dredge working between the jetties at the month of the Rogue.

The dredge was named the Yaquina it works like a vacuum cleaner sucking up dirt and sand.

I think this slowed down the salmon from entering the Rogue River. The fishing has pick up after the dredge went to Brookings on May 16.

The Klamath River is just starting to clear and is dropping the flow dropped 6,000 CFS in the last 4 days and 1.5 foot of is level with the Spring run just getting started it will fish into the early part of July.
